Teversal Red 2-2 Pinxton FC

Teversal tournament consolation game, and at last we get some half decent football.  Kev made it tonight after missing the last couple of games due to other commitments.

Last week Pinxton looked a shadow of their former selves as they went down 5-0 to Borrowash, but they turned up for this game with a spring in their step, and had the better of the first half an hour, until they were hit by two sucker punches in two minutes.

First, Dave Cockerill was allowed time and space to cross from the left on 33, the ball in was met by a powerful header on the far stick from Jez Mitchell.  Two minutes later Mitchell hammered a 25 yarder past Dave O'Hare - the shot was a real pearler and O'Hare had absolutely no chance of saving it!  H-T 2-0

Pinxton brought on Jay Cooper and Wayne Cooke for the second half, and what a difference they made.  Pinxton had played well, but Cooke adds that certain something, whilst Cooper certainly knows where the  back of the net is..

Cooke's goal on 71 was a superb solo effort, beating most of the Teversal team before slotting past the Tevie keeper.  Cooper then fired home two minutes later to level the scores. F-T 2-2

A pointless penalty shoot-out followed -  Teversal eventually winning 4-3.

This was the best game of the five that we managed to take in, and played in the right spirit as well.

We will miss the final of the Tourney as we have planned to take in the Hucknall Tn v Lincoln City game on Saturday. It is to be hoped that all goes well for the folk at Tevie - for all their hard work over the past fortnight, they deserve a decent turnout for the final.

Footnote: especially for Pinxton keeper Dave O'Hare.

Dave said I wouldn't blog about hitting the perimeter fencing when I retreived the ball after it had gone out for a goal kick....well Dave, you were wrong!
