Season 2012-2013
What to do, what to do???
When we learned that Brett Marshall was to take the reigns at Hucknall Town, thoughts went to investing in a season ticket for the Yellows - but with hindsight, this may not happen. The idea was to visit Watnall Road using the season ticket every other week or so, shelling out nothing. Then we were hoping to visit other more distant, previously unvisited clubs on alternate weekends - the money for the extra fuel coming from paying nothing the previous week -- if you get my drift!!!
However - the season looks a bit too interesting to dedicate 21 games to Hucknall. Along with the new regime / set up at Watnall road, there is the advent of AFC Mansfield, the new regime / set up at Arnold Town, the chance to see Heanor play step 5 football, the chance to see Basford Utd play step 6 football, the renewed battle to leave the CMFL for Pinxton, seeing Clipstone ply their trade at step 6, and of course, we mustn't forget Gedling MW, who have already promised a much better season than the last one. Not mentioned Carlton Town - we will be rare visitors to Stoke Lane now the admission has been raised to £8.00. Eastwood Town are charging £9 for their Evo-Stik Premier matches, so probably won't be visiting Coronation Park too often either - Hucknall is £7 per game through the turnstile.
We may still buy season tickets, and we still want to sponsor Brett Marshall - that way we will get the blog URL in the HTFC programme every week!!
Pre-season has been a bit of a damp squib so far, and some teams have yet to play a game. The EMCL and NCEL kick off on 4th August, so I imagine some teams will be short of players still on holiday, and short of match practice - especially if the weather doesn't improve significantly.
With still over 5 weeks before the Evo-Stik leagues commence, we have time to change our minds about how to tackle the coming season - watch this space!!!!!
