The Teversal tournament entered it's second week with a semi-final between Staveley MW and Sutton Town AFC.
Although 2 divisions apart, the game was very close, but it has to be said, not very exciting. I knew Rob "the66pow" Waite would be at Carnarvon Street for this game, but it was great to see he was accompanied by Adam "Mind of an Imp" Barlow. Three right bliddy bloggers together!!!!
I don't think either keeper was over worked in the first half, and it was no surprise when the teams went in 0-0 at the break
Spent most of the first half in the company of the North Notts duo, along with Kenny and Lee Shinfield from Pinxton FC. The second half was spent with Rob and Adam, and new Arnold Town boss Gary Hayward.
He said he is really looking forward to the coming campaign - and gave me a few details of the squad he is assembling at the Eagle Valley. Not my place to say anything on here, but if the players he mentioned can gel together quickly, the Eagles should have a really decent season.
Sutton keeper Gavin Saxby only played the first half, Jordan Riley replacing him for the final 45 minutes. Mind you, he hardly had anything to do as his defence looked a good solid unit. Lee Herriott also had little to do throughout the game - and trust me, neither keeper had anything to do in the penalty shoot out either! F-T 0-0.
The only miss in the "lottery" came from Sutton right back Dean Sweeney - and he put the ball wide of Herriott's post - so yet again no work for the keeper. Finished 5-3 to Staveley - they will play either Borrowash or Parkgate in the tournament final this Saturday coming.
