My son has just moved to Kirkby, so I thought it would be a good idea to introduce him to his new local team. Kirkby have had a great start to the season, but they do appear to be playing a couple of steps lower than they should be. Click here to go to the Notts Sunday League website.
Fredkirkbytown was in attendance, as was Bury fan Paul. Scott Ward joined us after the break and when Dave Voller was subbed half way through the second half, he came and sat with us for the rest of the game.
The Watson brothers, Kieren, Nathan and Kristian are a formidable force and with Kyle Ludlow and Voller also amongst their ranks, they should win this division hands down.
It was KRIS WATSON who opened the scoring in just the third minute, tapping home at the near post. He added the home team's second on 9, sliding in at the far post to convert a ball in from the left. KIEREN WATSON was played in by Kris seconds later, and rounded the Top Valley keeper before slotting home from an acute angle.
It was 4-0 on the half hour, a defender chesting home a left wing cross. Shock horror followed though - Kikby conceded their first league goal of the season in the 34th minute when Gary Armstrong failed to clear giving AARON EVANS the chance to slot the ball under the body of keeper Steve Boot. H-T 4-1
NATHAN WATSON fired home from 15 yards five minutes into the second half, and five minutes later, KIEREN WATSON rounded the keeper to slot home the sixth. ADAM MARSHALL blasted the ball into the top corner seconds later to make it seven.
KRIS WATSON was gifted his hat-trick goal on 70, when the keeper raced out to hack the ball away and missed it completely with Watson on hand to stroke the ball into the empty net. F-T 8-1

Pleasant way to spend a couple of hours, and I think I'll be visiting the Summit Centre again in the near future.
