Decided to visit our spritual home again - this time though not to watch a Hucknall Town team. This semi-final looked tasty on paper - CML North Division AFC were already in two finals so far this season prior to kick off, and are one of the candidates for promotion from the CML.
Belper Utd currently lie in 5th place in the CML South, and with games in hand over clubs above them, could still finish in the top three.
Not overly impressed with this effort.....
There were a couple of decent penalty shouts - one stonewaller for AFC waved away - the other was awarded by the linesman for an AFC handball, but this was over-ruled by Ref Chris Hunter - has to be said that Chris was not at his best by a long way.
Great to be in the company of Rob "the66pow" Waite again - always a pleasure. Good to meet up with Pete Craggs as well - not seen him for a while.
The game was a battle of attrition - both teams cancelling each other out throughout the proceedings. Then, bless his little cottons, CARL HASLAM cut in from the right and rifled a tremendous shot that excellent United Adam Joblinksi never saw until it was past him. That was in 90 +3 minutes - and came just as we were celebrating Mansfield Town's Matt Green's winner in the 92nd minute at Hereford.
No extra-time, thank goodness!
