Basford Utd 0-1 Aylestone Park

Greenwich Avenue called again - felt we just had to be there to see the United first team presented with the championship trophy.

Not the best performance by EMCL Champions Basford, but after the game they picked up the League trophy and individual mementos - the result forgotten amid the shower of champagne that accompanied skipper Ash Dyce raising the trophy...

The teams were really well matched and it took Basford until the 23rd minute to create their first decent chance - a Fabian Smith corner headed just over by Courtney Hastings.

Aylestone went even closer on 39. Karl Towers and Richard Gerald played a neat 1-2 before Gerald crossed into the area where Lyndon Seal headed the ball powerfully at goal only to see his effort crash off the bar. H-T 0-0

Hail and wind, sunshine and showers - oh, to be in England etc etc...and it was bloody cold when the sun disappeared behind the dark and foreboding clouds!

The games only goal came in the 71st minute, and it was LYNDON SEAL who scored it, glancing home a neat Lee Tyres free-kick from 10 yards out.

Basford battered the Park goal for the remaining 20 minutes or so, but failed to breach a very solid defensive back line. F-T 0-1

We stayed for the presentation of the League Championship trophy after the game - not the grandest trophy you'll ever see, but the individual ones looked good.....thankfully the weather stayed fine as EMCL Chairman  David Holland handed over the goods.
