Teversal FC 4-0 Hemsworth MW

We haven't been to Carnarvon Street for a while - needed to take in a no pressure, no worry game. With these teams lying 10th and 13th respectively before kick off, this NCEL Div 1 game seemed as good a choice as any.

Anyway, we always enjoy going to Teversal - always a friendly welcome and it's not too far to travel on a damp, dank, miserable afternoon.  Nice to see another young lady Assistant Referee - although Mr. Brittany Smith on the team sheet made us chuckle. Definately female!!

The game was fairly even and also fairly uneventful for the first 20 minutes or so, but then two goals in quick succession put the home team in charge.

Both were from the goal-den boot of skipper DAVE COCKERILL - the first on 22 minutes was a corner from the right that curled straight into the net over the despairing leap of the defender who was guarding the far stick.

The second saw the big man collect on the edge of the box, control, shield, flick up and volley the ball past Andy Joburns in the Welfare net.  Great goal - well worth the entry fee....

Hemsworth had a chance to reduce their arrears on the half-hour mark, but Robbie Crapper fired over from 3 yards after Tevie keeper Ryan Brooks had parried the ball straight to the youngster.

WILL HARCOURT added the home teams third with 5 minutes of the half remaining, his neat far post header  looping over Joburns, leaving the keeper grasping at thin air as the ball flew over his outstretched arms. H-T 3-0

The second half was nowhere near as good as the first, and although both keepers were called into action on occasion, the scoreline stayed a 3-0 until the 87th minute. Dave Cockerill crossed superbly from the right wing and ROB COLLINS met the ball with a superb far post diving header after the visiting defenders failed to intercept the cross. F-T 4-0
