Even after the recent disastrous results, we went to Watnall Road with a slight hope that things will now begin to improve, especially after the cracking turn out at the trials day on Thursday. Well, at least the Yellows had a full team sheet, which in itself is something of a rare event.
Unfortunately Brigg also had a full teamsheet, and with Paul Grimes leading their line, any sloppy defending was going to be punished to the max. Comparing the line-ups, the Zebras were never likely to leave Watnall Road without the three points, although the home team did hold out until the half hour mark.
Alex Malong had made a cracking double save on 28, but could do nothing to keep out PAUL GRIMES two minutes later. The Brigg hitman rounded Rob Paling before sliding home at the far post after Davis had given Jason Gregory the slip and fired the ball in from the right.

Malong had to be alert again after 35 minutes had been played, keeping out Alex Flett's effort. Brigg doubled their lead on 38 - great interplay between Flett and LIAM DAVIS ended with the no.7 slotting neatly home from 8 yards. H-T 0-2
Davis adds the second
"One Eye On The Ball" bloggist Dudsey came to join us at half-time - he's not been to well lately so posts on his blog have been few and far between recently. Hopefully he will take this chance to give his slant on the game....
The home team went further behind with 12 minutes of the second half played - a defensive header from James Leggitt picked out GRIMES 15 yards from goal and the striker drilled the ball low and hard just inside the post. Not a player to hand gifts to, but a good finish none the less.
Seconds later, Hucknall made a rare foray up the field and were awarded a penalty by Referee Alan Sarginson - a bit of climbing indicated by the official. ROB PALING stepped up and drilled the ball past Jamie Green to give a little hope of a comeback to the home supporters.
Alas, it was not to be because when Gregory failed to cut out Mark Dudley's cross from the left on 72, RYAN PACZKOWSKI was left with the simple chance of firing past an unprotected Malong.
GRIMES completed his personal triple in the 84th minute, stabbing home at the far post after he was allowed too much space. The scoring was completed in the final minute, DANNY BUTTLE given a simple close range tap in after the ball was hit across the goal from the right wing. F-T 1-6
Referee Sarginson had a relatively trouble free game - although credit must go to both sets of players for their superb attitude throughout. Mind you, looks like Alan is not really one to argue with !!!!

MOM - for his defensive work and despite the scoreline, Kyle Ludlow gets the nod. Made several last ditch tackles that kept the score down! Not too bad for a converted midfield player!! Alex Malong was in contention for his superb handling and shot stopping, as was Warren Hatfield for his tireless box to box efforts.
